From the Library – THIS MONTH (7/17/21): Author Linda Sue Park Will Visit the Irondequoit Library
Linda Sue Park won the Newbery Medal in 2002 for The Single Shard and she’ll be visiting the Irondequoit Public Library later this month to talk about her new book, The One Thing You’d Save.
BOOK DESCRIPTION: When a teacher asks her class what one thing they would save in an emergency, some students know the answer right away. Others come to their decisions more slowly. And some change their minds when they hear their classmates’ responses. A lively dialog ignites as the students discover unexpected facets of one another–and themselves. With her ear for authentic dialog and knowledge of tweens’ priorities and emotions, Linda Sue Park brings the varied voices of an inclusive classroom to life through carefully honed, engaging, and instantly accessible verse.
An Author Visit With Linda Sue Park will be held outside at the Gazebo (weather permitting) on Saturday, July 17, at 11:00 AM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar. The first 50 people to register will receive a pre-signed bookplate from the author.
The One Thing You’d Save is geared for kids in grade school (ages 8-9), but all ages are welcome to attend. We also ask that you please bring your own chairs or blankets, and marks are preferred.
