The Classic Book Discussion Group will read and discuss Isak Dinesen’s Out of Africa in April 2022:
BOOK DESCRIPTION: In 1914 Karen Blixen arrived in Kenya with her husband to run a coffee farm. Instantly drawn to the land, she spent her happiest years there until the plantation failed. Karen Blixen was forced to return to Denmark and it was there in 1937 that she wrote this classic account of her experiences under the pen name Isak Dinesen. A poignant farewell to her beloved Kenya, Out of Africa describes her strong friendships with the people of her area, her affection for the landscape and animals, and great love for the adventurer Denys Finch-Hatton.
An in-person discussion of Out of Africa will be held on Thursday, April 28, at 3:00 PM. If you’d like to attend, please register now through our Event Calendar.
Copies of Out of Africa are currently available on our 1st Floor on the Book Discussion Shelf (just behind our New Books shelves).
