IRONDEQUOIT TO BEGIN ANNUAL BOW HUNT PROGRAM
Deer Management Program Rules and Regulations
Tuesday, October 11th, will mark the opening day of the annual Deer Management Bow Hunt program in Irondequoit. Since the late 1990’s, the town has worked closely with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation to help manage Irondequoit’s urban deer population and reduce the number of deer-related motor vehicle accidents.
Program Rules Include:
Takes place on properties that agreed to allow bow hunting
Must pass requirements regarding proximity to residences and roadways
Site visits performed by the Irondequoit Police Department to ensure safety/adherence to the town code
*Only licensed hunters who have successfully completed the program are eligible
*Bow Hunt only take places when school IS IN session
The hunt runs until December 16th, or it may end sooner at the discretion of the town.
